About the Event

Freeway is honored to pay tribute to a deserving National Artist of Visual Arts, the person who has influenced an entire generation with his art pieces, having excelled beyond the borders of the Philippine islands, no other than Federico Aguilar Alcuaz!

The exclusive and private event was held on October 9 Thursday at the CrownPlas Private Museum which holds the largest collection of Alcuaz pieces in the world. Only a select handful top notch editors and columnists were invited. It was a very intimate and definitely an exclusive fusion of art and fashion with a lot of learning, culminated by a viewing of the art pieces of Federico Alcuaz!

The event started with an introduction by Sheree Gotuaco of Freeway who turned over the floor to Moderator Coco Alcuaz, ANC Business News Head and nephew of Federico Alcuaz.

Coco Alcuaz executed a very informative interview with Christian Aguilar, son of Federico Alcuaz and Cid Reyes, Philippine’s foremost art critic. The discussion touched on Alcuaz’ achievements, experiences and interesting personal anecdotes.  The guests were also able to know more about the Filipino Master’s beginnings and his great contributions to the Philippine and global art history as discussed by the candid and eloquent Cid Reyes.

After the 25 minute interview, the select guests were treated to an exclusive viewing of the 3 floors of Alcuaz painting of the CrownPlas musuem, as owned by Eddie and Norma Chua. Warm and friendly discussion peppered the walls of the museum as guests viewed all the mediums of art that versatile Alcuaz has created, from paintings, to tapestry, sculpture, sketches, three-dimensional work and more! The CrownPlas museum also housed the Chua’s collection of Buddists artifacts and European porcelain and crystals.

The unveiling of the much-anticipated Holiday Collection for 2014 was exclusive but definitely a sight to see. Freeway awed the guests by showcasing a wide array shift dresses, chloe puff tops, shirts and slinky pieces beautifully adorned with Alcuaz’s masterpieces.

Truly, the event was something to remember as guests went home that night filled with more knowledge, appreciation and awe for fashion as Freeway shared yet another superb historical figure for the entire art and fashion society to see.
